HELP IN TIME OF NEED
No one has the power to understand or control the planet earth regarding the many disasters it brings. Disasters bring about loss, pain, hardship and unsettlement in several ways that can literally bring lives to a complete standstill. If you are in a good position and live near the affected people, you can offer your assistance since many of these people will need help and urgently too.
There are several ways anyone or organizations can help people during a disaster. Some of these are:
1. You can call your local charity organization to check if they are looking for volunteers. It is also possible to join a charity organization working in a disaster area by showing up and asking if you could help. Even if you are not in a disaster stricken region, you may be able to help out with filling staff space of those that have left to help elsewhere.
2. Social media such as Facebook and Twitter plus many others can be used during a disaster or emergency situations to bring in extra hands and reach out to those in need. This can be in the form of physical volunteers to making donations for the affected victims.
3. Your local newspaper or local news sites can help you with up to date information about where help is needed or how you can get involved in a community relief work. Most charity organizations get their words out using local newspaper and media during disasters.
4. Make sure to stock up on emergency kit in your home, together with disaster survival kit. All of these survival kits must be kept in a bag so you can grab it and get out of the area if you are in a life threatening situation. This will allow you to be in the best situation to help yourself and neighbors. It is also advisable to keep telephone numbers of your local and national disaster offices for information.
It is important to note that while helping others, you must remember to help yourself as well during emergencies. You cannot determine when a disaster will struck, so you must be ready to for disasters such as earthquake, hurricane, flood, tornado, fire and other natural disaster that may befall your region so you can prevent so much loss. In other words, you can make a world of difference by helping your local charity organizations to help others in the event of a natural disaster.
