Tornado Event USA (april 2014)

Just three years after the devastating tornado event that struck the heart of Little Rock suburb of Vilonia and its residents found themselves running away in the dark last Monday, trying to realize what is going on and how they will actually be able to come back from another incident like this. This was reportedly one of the most powerful tornados we’ve seen this year and it literally carved its way through the city while killing at least 16 people in its wake.

The tornado started on Sunday at about 10 miles west of Little Rock around 7-8 p.m. in the evening and then sped all the way on a 80 miles path of destruction destroying many buildings as well as residents property. It grew as big as half a mile in width and remained on the ground for a really long time. Amongst the ruins, it’s sad to report that there was also the destroyed remains of a recently built intermediate school that was funded with 14 million dollars and was set to open this fall.

People from the area are already saying there is not really much left for them there, not anything other than ruins and lots of dust at least. In response to the disaster, President Obama started a joint press conference in Manila in order to offer his condolences to the victims of the central US tornadoes. Obama stated that residents will be stated by people from the FEMA organization who will be at the grounds offering assistance to all in need of it.

This tornado as mentioned earlier as well, is reportedly one of the largest ones the U.S. have seen in quite a while that were produced by a powerful storm system that went through the central and the southern part of U.S. ground. In related news, another tornado killed a person in Quapaw, Oklahome just before the tornado actually crossed the state borders and got in Kansas where it destroyed about 70 homes and injured 25 people in the city of Baxter Springs in the process as well. There has been only 1 confirmed death though thus far from the Baxter Springs authorities and thus the number is up to 17 since early this Monday.

On the other hand, the tornado that hit Arkansas wasn’t actually well formed yet until it was really dark outside and a full report could not be given on the damage until Monday’s sunrise.

On more related news, in northwest Louisiana a teenager also went under minor injuries after the tornado strike and Bill Davis, a spokesman for the Bossier Parish Sherriff’s Office reported that the hit happened somewhere around 3:15 a.m. on Monday about six miles away to the west of Plain Dealing in a rural area. The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center also reported that more storms are to be expected on Monday in the South and Mississippi Valley.

We only have to wait and see how things will go from here on and what other catastrophic events like the tornadoes of the past week we will be seeing in the near future.
