Typhoon Neoguri Attacked Japan
Almost every country in the world has experienced devastations of natural disasters like typhoon, hurricane, earthquakes, avalanche, tsunami, and the like. These disasters are very devastating killing people, and damaging properties like homes, schools, roads, and others. These natural disasters are somewhat paralyzing a certain community because of its destructions. The common aftermath of these natural disasters are power blackout, lack of food, lack of shelter, lack of clothing, and diseases brought by traumatic experience, injuries, and unhealthy environment.
Just last July 7, 2014, Japan was devastated by the super typhoon Neoguri. Residents of affected areas in Japan who witness the super typhoon’s attacked believed that this typhoon is the strongest typhoon that has attacked the country.
As preparation for the super typhoon’s landfall, nearly 500, 000 families were evacuated from the southern islands of Japan. Upon landfall, super typhoon Neoguri moved at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour with an atmospheric pressure of 935 hectopascals. Neoguri was generating a wind of up to 50 meters every second. Its center gusts up winds to 70 meters per second.
Super typhoon Neoguri was formed late on 30th of June when a tropical disturbance was formed 220 kilometers east of Chuuk. The next day, a low pressure area was reported to have formed on the same area. After few day, the low pressure and tropical disturbance was found to be forming an eyewall and thus developed into super typhoon Neoguri.
In Okinawa, eighteen municipalities were affected. An estimated of 580, 000 residents of these municipalities were evacuated. The people living in these affected areas were advised by the authorities to leave their homes and evacuate to a safer place.
After the typhoon, 5 people were reported killed throughout Okinawa. On the other hand, 45 people were reported injured due to various incident that are typhoon related. One man was reported to be drowned off the coast of Shikoku out ahead of the storm.
It was reported that there were 10, 300 incidents of power failure in the areas of Okinawa, Kagoshima, and Nagano. A report was received by the authorities declaring that there are 19 building that are damage in the region of Okinawa. Three out of these nineteen buildings were completely destroyed and eight of these buildings were partially destroyed.
The super typhoon Neoguri marked the history of Japan as it is considered by the people of Japan as the strongest typhoon to ever hit their country. It is the worst typhoon in 15 years that occurred in Japan. The super typhoon caused cancellation of flights, suspension of classes, paralysis of business and legal transactions due to power failure.
The typhoon has affected the people in different ways and in different extent. Many families were left homeless due to strong winds and heavy rainfall. The economy is also greatly affected because of the ruined infrastructures, businesses, and livelihood.
In every calamity, the hard part doesn’t end after the typhoon is over. The hard part is still there in moving on.
